Congratulations to Dr. Payoshni Mitra and Vincent Gaillard on their newly appointed positions.
Dr. Payoshni Mitra has been announced as the Chief Executive Officer of the first-ever Global Observatory for Women, Sport, Physical Education and Physical Activity. The Global Observatory was announced in July 2021, and aims to overcome global and systemic inequalities to achieve gender equality and empower girls and women in all their diversity in and through sport. Payoshni brings to the role her experience in advocacy and research, as well as her experience as an athlete, at the service of the Global Observatory to build on the gender and sport movement and continue to push for progress globally.
The Centre additionally congratulates Vincent Gaillard on his recent appointment as Executive Director of World Rowing, the international governing body for the sport of rowing. Previously CEO of the European Professional Club Rugby, Vincent’s background working in both corporate and non-profit environments, with a major focus on sustainability, saw the natural transition to his new position at World Rowing.
Last year, the Centre announced the appointment of a new Board of Directors, a diverse group of nine experienced professionals who act on a voluntary basis and in their own personal capacities to oversee the governance of the Centre. We welcome the broad range of experiences that our directors offer from across the sport ecosystem, and once again wish both Payoshni and Vincent many congratulations for their new roles.
