Current Work

Cheryl's role was created to undertake grant and proposal writing in support of the CSHR’s work related to the Child Rights Project for the FIFA World Cup 2026. Her role aligns with Strategic Priority 5 in CSHR’s strategy “Convergence 2025” - to build a sustainable global organization and specifically with Activity Area 5.5 to generate stable and sustainable resourcing and revenue.

Previous Experience

Cheryl’s most recent consulting engagements include serving as a technical assistance (TA) consultant to the Washington, DC-based National Council on Aging (NCOA) providing grant writing related article content and educational webinars as part of those NCOA’s resource support to stakeholder organizations serving older adults and people with disabilities. Cheryl is a long-time member of the vast grant consultant network of McAllister & Quinn (M&Q), a Washington, DC-based government relations firm, in roles as consultant grant writer and internal panel reviewer (IPR)/pre-submission grant reviewer.

Ms. Townsel earned her Master of Science (S.M.) degree in Health Policy and Management from Harvard University School of Public Health (Boston, MA) and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology from Oberlin College (Oberlin, OH). She is one of fewer than five hundred credentialed grant professionals who have earned the Grant Professional Certification (GPC) credential conferred by the Grant Professionals Certification Institute (GPCI).
