MLSE LaunchPad, The Give and Grow and the Centre for Sport and Human Rights partner to host Women's World Cup Viewing and Networking Event

Three organizations working to advance gender equity in sport are coming together to raise awareness about girls and women in sport. MLSE LaunchPad, The Give and Grow and the Centre for Sport and Human Rights (CSHR) are hosting the event during the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 taking place in Australia and New Zealand.

Lisa Wiele, Managing Director of MLSE LaunchPad noted: “We are proud to host this event that will bring together change makers in advancing gender equity in sport. We look forward to celebrating the Women’s World Cup, cheering on Team Canada and having important conversations on how we can continue to grow and change the game for women and girls.”

In addition to a viewing party, attendees will be able to engage in two workshops organized by The Give and Grow and the Centre for Sport and Human Rights.

Olivia Ho, founder of The Give and Grow hopes to connect individuals and organizations to encourage more girls and women ‘into the game’: “I believe when you bring people together who are already working in the space of providing opportunities for girls and young women, we can share wise practices and learn from each other how to create more inclusive environments.”

Sabrina Razack, Project Lead for the Centre led Child Rights initiative for the upcoming FIFA Men’s World Cup 2026 notes the importance of education and bringing awareness to the rights for girls and young women in sport: “Ensuring the sports community understands and is able to advocate for fundamental rights will be critical to progressing and advancing gender equality in sport.”

The event will foster informed conversation and networks to find ways to improve the overall experience for girls and young women in sport.

A number of leading athletes are slated to attend the event, which begins with breakfast and viewing of the Canadian Women’s Team versus the Republic of Ireland - start time 8:00 a.m. EST.

Attendees of this free, sold-out event will then participate in workshops being hosted by The Give and Grow and the Centre for Sport and Human Rights.

Summer Camp children ages 8-13 will be arriving shortly after the game to participate in activities on soccer and honouring women's football.
